TutorMate Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how the TutorMate mobile application ("the App", "we", "us") handles information. TutorMate is a tool for tutors to manage tuition classes, students and fee payments. The App is designed to work entirely offline. We do not operate any servers, and we do not collect, receive or store any of your data.
1. Information you enter into the App
To use the App, you may enter the following information:
- Class details: class name, monthly fee, weekly session times and an optional WhatsApp group link.
- Student details: student name, address, parent or guardian name, parent phone number and parent WhatsApp number.
- Fee records: the month, amount and payment status of fees.
- App preferences: such as your chosen theme (light, dark or system).
All of this information is stored only on your device, in a local database. It is never uploaded to us or to any third party by the App.
2. Information we collect
We do not collect any personal information. The App does not:
- require you to create an account or sign in;
- connect to the internet to send your data anywhere;
- use analytics, advertising, crash reporting or tracking services;
- access your contacts, location, camera, microphone or files.
3. Sharing through WhatsApp and email
The App lets you open WhatsApp to message a parent or open a class WhatsApp group, and lets you open your email app to contact support. This only happens when you tap the relevant button. When you do, the App passes the phone number, group link or message text to WhatsApp or your email app on your device. Anything you then send is handled by that app under its own privacy policy, for example the WhatsApp Privacy Policy. We do not receive a copy.
4. Your responsibility for student information
The information you record about students and parents belongs to them. As the tutor using the App, you are responsible for collecting it with their knowledge, keeping your device secure (for example with a screen lock), and deleting it when it is no longer needed.
5. Data retention and deletion
Your data stays on your device until you delete it. You can delete individual classes, students and fee records inside the App. Uninstalling the App, or clearing its data in your device settings, permanently removes all information stored by the App. Because we never hold a copy, we cannot recover deleted data.
6. Data security
Your data is stored in the App's private storage area, which other apps cannot access under Android's standard security model. Its safety also depends on the security of your device, so we recommend using a screen lock and keeping your device up to date.
7. Children's privacy
TutorMate is intended for use by tutors, not by children. The App may hold student names entered by the tutor, but it does not collect any information directly from children and does not share any information with us or third parties.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
